Academic mobility is one-semester-long education at a foreign partner university with recognition of learning outcomes. Beyond this formality there is something more deep and meaningful: immersion in a global academic environment, where you have to communicate with representatives of a wide variety of countries and cultures; studying in a new educational environment with innovative approaches to teaching; willingness for continuous development; and perceiving yourself as a part of a larger, interconnected world. This is a great ecosystem of knowledge with no borders.
Recently, the geography of our academic mobility programs has expanded significantly, making them more accessible to our university students. Today, more than fifty universities from fifteen countries around the world – including Bangladesh, Vietnam, India, Indonesia, China, Malaysia, Mexico, Thailand, and CIS countries – are glad to welcome UMTE students in international internships.
In the 2025 – 2026 academic year, fifteen UMTE students traveled to Asia: to Macao with its fusion of Portuguese and Chinese cultures, to dynamic Shanghai, historical Shenyang, and welcoming Thailand.
Our students improved their academic and everyday English, while those who studied Chinese gained the unique opportunity to practice both languages in a variety of situations. The education was based on the analysis of real international business cases: students analyzed strategies of companies entering the global market, learned to make decisions in uncertain conditions, and conducted negotiations with representatives of other cultures. On weekends and vacations, they traveled from the ancient temples of Ayutthaya to the Pudong skyscrapers, from Macao's mansions to the noisy markets of Bangkok – turning every trip into a living lesson in history, architecture, and ethnography.
It goes without saying that participating in an international exchange is an excellent point in a resume highly valued by potential employers. However, internship is also about new friends, flexibility of mind, communication skills in a foreign language, the ability to work in an international team, and openness to the world.
Academic mobility is an investment in yourself, which pays off not only in career prospects but also in profound personal growth. We invite all those who are willing to take the next step on this journey.
